Community Outreach Activity

Too often mental illness has shame and stigma attached to it. Hamm Clinic sponsors events in the community aimed at reducing the stigma associated with seeking care for mental health issues. For example Hamm Clinic sponsors the NAMI Walk that supports NAMI, the largest grass roots mental health organization that helps shape national public policy, combats stigma and encourages understanding. The clinic also sponsors an annual conference that features local and national experts speaking on clinical and cultural topics.

As an independent outpatient mental health clinic Hamm Clinic has positive relationships with numerous organizations that specialize in health care, mental health care, social services, and education. For example Hamm Clinic is a member of the Minnesota Association of Community Mental Health Programs (MACMHP) which, in collaboration with other Minnesota mental health providers, advocates policies that positively impact the delivery of mental health services in the state.

Hamm also partners with various educational institutions including the University of Minnesota, Hennepin-Regions Psychiatry Training Program, University of Saint Thomas, College of St. Catherine/University of St. Thomas School of Social Work and Augsburg College to provide professional internships.
