On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am proud to announce that we have selected Angela Lewis-Dmello as the Executive Director of Hamm Memorial Psychiatric Clinic. Angela has held the Interim Executive Director role at Hamm Clinic since September of 2019, having started at Hamm as the Director of Clinical Services and Programs in January of 2019.
Angie brings more than 10 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, a background in providing direct client care, and a strong passion for ensuring everyone in our community has access to culturally responsive mental health services. Angela has been a leader in the broader community in her work as a Community Adjunct Faculty member at the University of Minnesota School of Social Work teaching graduate social work students psychotherapy methods courses since 2012.
Angela previously worked as the Family Services Director at CornerHouse – Interagency Child Abuse Evaluation Center, Director of Client Services at Domestic Abuse Project, trauma consultant/ psychotherapist at Lutheran Social Services- Refugee Services, and as a psychotherapist with The Center for Victims of Torture. She founded Transforming Trauma and provided consultation and training to social service organizations throughout the region on trauma-informed care, leadership and supervision, and trauma treatment.
As Hamm Clinic moves forward in providing high-quality mental health services in our community, our board sees Angela as having the unique skills to advance that work through her commitment to our clients at Hamm by prioritizing their mental health above all else. As the Board Chair, I am confident that Angela has the vision to build on Hamm’s legacy towards an innovative future. We are pleased to have her as our executive leader.
