Carissa Kaufman is a bilingual Mental Health Therapist at Hamm Clinic and has worked in the human services field since 2006. Carissa has a BA in Psychology from Macalester College and earned an MA in Marriage and Family Therapy from Saint Mary’s University of MN (Twin Cities Campus). She has worked in residential mental health programs, in an urban high school setting, and in mental health clinics. Carissa specializes in strength-based, emotionally focused, and experiential therapeutic approaches. As a Mental Health Therapist, she believes she has the unique opportunity to create meaningful relationships with other human beings, relationships that are based on mutual trust, and relationships that allows for greater inner peace which positively impacts communal peace. Carissa works collaboratively with clients so that when they look back on things, they realize that they have experienced more comedy than tragedy, more hope than despair, and ultimately, that they have crafted a life that they can look back on and be proud of. Carissa enjoys working with more than one person in the therapy room and so, she welcomes therapeutic work with couples and families. Carissa is a person of color and seeks to provide services to other people of color. Carissa is passionate about biracial and multiracial identity development, supporting interracial couples, and social & environmental justice. She is a humanistic clinician, as opposed to a clinician rooted in a particular faith or set of spiritual practices. Carissa has a number of interests and hobbies outside of work. Some of them include: dancing, swimming, reading, watching movies, and traveling.

Carissa Kaufman trabaja como terapeuta de salud mental bilingüe en Hamm Clinic y ha trabajado en el ámbito de los servicios humanos desde 2006. Carissa se licenció en Psicología en Macalester College y tiene una maestría en Terapia Familiar y de Matrimonio de Saint Mary’s University of MN. Carissa ha trabajado en programas residenciales de salud mental en escuelas preparatorias urbanas y en clínicas de salud mental. Carissa está especializada en métodos terapéuticos experimentales basados en la fortaleza y centrados en las emociones. Como terapeuta de salud mental, Carissa cree que tiene una oportunidad única para crear relaciones significativas con otros seres humanos, relaciones que están basadas en la confianza mutua y que permiten crear una paz interior que tendrá un impacto positivo en la paz comunitaria.
