Karen Reimers , MD, FAPA
Dr. Karen Reimers, MD, FAPA, serves as the Director of Psychiatry at Hamm Clinic. She oversees psychiatric care for Hamm patients, sharing expertise with the leadership and clinical teams to help Hamm Clinic achieve its goals and provide high quality patient care.
She earned her undergraduate degree at McGill University in Canada and attended the Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich, Germany, for medical school. Dr. Reimers completed her Psychiatry residency at the State University of New York at Buffalo, graduating in 2013. Dr. Reimers is double-boarded in psychiatry and addiction medicine. She has experience working as a psychiatrist in outpatient, inpatient, and consulting roles, including at Mayo Clinic Health System and Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation. Now in private practice, she serves as an expert witness and is the author of “The Clinician’s Guide to Geriatric Forensic Evaluations” (Elsevier, 2019).
Teaching is another passion, and Dr. Reimers regularly instructs residents and medical students. She holds academic positions as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Minnesota Department of Psychiatry, and Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Central Florida.
In her free time, Dr. Reimers enjoys nature (especially the beach), classical music, and learning foreign languages.
