Lauren (she/her/hers) provides outpatient psychotherapy to a diverse range of clients with mild-severe mental health concerns using individual and couples modalities. She received her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Lauren strives to create genuine relationships with clients where they feel both heard and understood. To do so, she approaches clients with an open mind and aims to meet them where they are in their course of treatment. Lauren’s objective is to create safety with clients so that they may be their authentic selves and work towards change.
Lauren believes problems occur when one’s personal stories are dominated by the views of others or culture at large leaving no room for a person’s preferred story or stories that sufficiently capture or contradict important aspects of the person’s lived experience. In order to produce change, Lauren works collaboratively with clients to separate themselves from their problem-saturated stories. Together, they identify times when the problem was absent, moments of personal strength, protective factors, and resources. Through this process, clients can reduce the influence the problem has on their life, make room for their preferred stories, and rewrite their narratives.
Lauren’s professional interests include identity development and exploration, relationships with self and others, navigating significant life change, working with historically marginalized populations, race-based trauma, managing depression and anxiety, and clinical supervision and training. Lauren has had the opportunity to work in four college counseling centers with both traditional and non-traditional college students, and an outpatient private practice serving the LGBTQ population.
