Mariah WIka
Mariah Wika (she/her) is a clinical social work intern who provides therapy at Hamm Clinic. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Studies from Gustavus Adolphus College and is currently earning her Masters in Social Work at Augsburg University.
Mariah believes that all people have tremendous capacity for healing and connection. She loves getting to know clients as whole people and is honored to accompany them through challenging experiences, uncertain times, celebrations, and day-to-day joys and frustrations. A multitude of factors influence mental health, and Mariah stays attuned to the societal forces and systems of oppression that impact our lived experiences. Mariah brings steadiness, warmth, and a sense of humor to sessions. She sees healing as non-linear and therapy as a courageous, powerful exploration of self.
In her career, Mariah has worked with immigrants, LGBTQIA+ young people, and elders. In her previous social work internship, she provided resources and support to middle school students and their families. Mariah has social work experience with trauma, depression, anxiety, and LGBTQIA+ mental health. She welcomes clients of all ages, gender identities, racial identities, and sexual orientations.
