Hamm Clinic typically hosts two psychiatric residents during their clinical practice rotation. The typical residency is a 12-month commitment, with 8 – 16 hours per week devoted to clinic services and learning activities. Residents are assigned to Hamm Clinic by the Psychiatry Training Program Director at Hennepin Healthcare. At this time, Hamm Clinic does not consider residents from other psychiatry training programs.
The residency emphasizes the provision of outpatient services, including psychological assessment, diagnostic assessment, treatment planning, and individual, couples, family, and group psychotherapy. The resident may be supported in their learning through participation in:
- Deliberate practice
- Weekly seminar series
- One hour of weekly clinical supervision
- One hour of weekly team consultation
- Monthly clinical team meetings
- Various topic-specific drop-in consult groups.
